Ashitaba Tea
Ashitaba is an Asian green vegetable rich in antioxidant - Chalcone. Recent studies in Japan and the U.S. have shown that chalcone helps guard against heart problems, cancer, oxidation of LDL cholesterol, osteoporosis, diabetes, and even Alzheimer's disease.
Hachijo Island is one of the Longevity Islands in Japan. In this Island, Ashitaba has been served as daily vegetable since years ago. Ashitaba grows in only Hachijo Island and around. Which means Ashitaba is a Japanese original vegetable.

Ashitaba Percent - Ashitaba Tea
What Is Ashitaba?
Discovery of the Century: Ashitaba from Japan Hachi Jo Island (Longevity Island)
Ashitaba, the extreme high quality, grows in the riches of Nature Hachijo Island. "CHALCONE" is the most valuable and characteristic element found only in Hachi Jo Island grown Ashitaba.

Hachi Jo Island, Japan
Ashitaba grown in Hachi Jo Island alone contains a "yellow substance." In our chemical analysis of the "yellow substance," In our chemical analysis of the "yellow substance," we fund a never-before-discovered new chemical, which we named CHALCONE. CHALCONE contains two types of CHALCONE inductors, which we named "Xanthoangelol" and "4-Hydroxyderricin." We announced our findings at the Japanese Pharmacy Convention.
It is known as the "Treasure" and the "King of Vegetables" of the Longevity Island. It may be the "plant of longevity that the First Emperor of China of the Chin Dynasty was searching for. In the days of the Edo Era, the Hachi Jo Island Ashitaba was also known as "Longevity Herb." Its scientific name is Angelica Keiskei Koidzmi. We called it Ashitaba (meaning Leaves of Tomorrow in the Japanese language) because of its strong life-force: when you pick its leaves today, the new tender leaf will sprout tomorrow.
Ashitaba is a specie of the celery family. It is a large perennial plant (about 4 years). As a genus, its Latin Name connotes angel. Many white flowers bloom in fall after it has planted for three years. These white flowers remind one of an angel's halo. Many plants of the same genus are used as medical herbs. There are numerous medicinal herbs of the same genus to which Ashitaba belongs, such as Radix Angelicae Sinasis, Radix Angelicae Pubescentis, Rhizoma Liguistici Chuanxiog, Fructus Foeniculi, and Radix vital base drugs in Chinese prescriptions.
The academic research group lead by Dr. Kimie Baba, MD, who is an authority on Ashitaba have announced several research reports which includes the publication in the 1990 Pharmacology Convention. The findings of the research indicates that Hachi Jo Island Ashitaba does not only contain rich and balanced vitamins minerals, food fiber and amino acids, it also contains a newly found element- named "CHALCONE".
Donald Buhler and his colleagues at Oregon State University found that minute amounts of Chalcone in hops were six times as potent as those antioxidants found in citrus fruit, almost four times as potent as those in soy, and two times more potent than those found in green tea.
"Ashitaba has been consumed as a vegetable and medicine for many hundreds of years by inhabitants of Hachi Jo Island (Longevity Islands). In Japan, Ashitaba is used to treat hypertension. As a diuretic, it has no side effects such as western medicines frequently have.
Ashitaba is very useful in treating menstrual cramps and pains. It helps to make menopause more comfortable," said Dr. Kevin Lance Jones, O.M.D. Further, Ashitaba is useful in the treatment of a wide variety of gynecological conditions and provides women with therapeutic alternatives to hormone replacement therapy and hysterectomies.
Studies by Dr. Kimie Baba of Osaka University show that Ashitaba has antibacterial, antiviral, anti-ulcer, anti-thrombus and strong anti-tumor effects, inhibiting skin and lung cancer. The Biomedical Group in Takara, Japan recently found that the plant can stimulate the production of nerve growth factor (NGF) is an added benefit to diabetics and to brain health.
"PerCent Ashitaba Tea" products are researched and developed by Osaka Pharmaceutical University in Japan together with Hachi Jo Island Agriculture Association, "Percent Ashitaba" products are made purely from organically grown Hachi Jo Island Ashitaba. With the advanced patented manufacturing technique (PAT1419841), we are able to offer you the complete nutrition of Hachi Jo Island Ashitaba while still maintaining its original flavor.
Ashitaba has also been used as a treatment for the following disorders:

Ashitaba and Cancer Research
The progress of normal cells becoming cancer cells is through three stages. In the Initiation Stage, the damaging substance named "Initiator" causes the normal cells to become latent cancer cells, DNA of the genes are harmed. Then the cells develop into the Promotion Stage at which the harmful substance - "Promotion acts on the cell membrane and the cells' protein until cancer is formed. Finally, in the Progression Stage, the cancer cells grow and spread.
Majority of people on earth already have some Initiators in their bodies making it possible for them to suffer from cancer. However, if there is no active "Promotor," the host body will not be attacked by cancer.
Lung Cancer and Skin Cancer Experiments
In the experiments conducted by Dr. Okuyama and others in Tokyo Meiji University of Pharmacy, it was discovered that the CHALCONE in the Hachi Jo Island Ashitaba have the ability to inhibit activity of the cancer promoting substances.
To study the function of CHALONE in lung cancer and skin cancer, white mice were used for the research experiment. In conducting the lung cancer study, the mice who had been administered with the carcinogen (Initiator) was applied on the backs of the mice before dividing them into two groups. One group was administered the CHALCONE derived from Ashitaba, another group was not. It was discovered that the group treated with the Ashitaba extract had inhibited cancer onset to a significant degree.
As for skin disease, Carcinogen (Initiator) was applied on the backs of the mice before dividing them into two groups. Ashitaba- derived CHALCONE was applied on one group but not on the other. The results indicate that the group treated with CHALCONE inhibited skin cancer significantly.
